20 years ago, two children met on the northern shores of Lake Michigan. 20 years later they would reunite and develop an unprecedented musical fervor known as Mansions on the Moon. Mansions on the Moon was started by Ben Hazlegrove and Ted Wendler in 2009 when the two started writing and producing in a modest studio in Atlanta, Georgia.
efore the two reunited, Ted was writing and performing songs on the acoustic guitar in the Northern Rocky Mountains of Montana. During this time, Ben was writing, producing, and performing with the electronica trio, Pnuma. Ben’s experience with Pnuma gave him the opportunity to tour around the world while he developed as a producer and songwriter. Later, Mansions on the Moon was joined by drummer Lane Shaw of Pnuma.
he song repertoire of Mansions on the Moon ranges from organic classic rock to electronic up-tempo pop. The band’s ability to both produce and perform unique and timely music ensures Mansions on the Moon will float above the sea of mundane musical milieu. The three members are currently finishing their debut album in The Neptunes’ studio in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
One thing Dominic Lalli (Motet saxophonist/producer) is not afraid of is trying new things. Big Gigantic is Lalli’s latest project that showcases an array of gripping composition combining elements of a DJ and a live band setup. Lalli and drummer Jeremy Salken mix thoughtful melodic ideas, with pulsating dance tunes, sure to energize the dance floor. Big Gigantic flavors the electronic music scene with powerful sax solos and soulful synth lines on top of super hot beats. Even in its early stages, Big Gigantic has played numerous sell out shows leaving audiences begging for more.
Based in the entertainment-super-hub of the world, Underground Orchestra is a Los Angeles band capable of captivating crowds from coast to coast. In 2006 they were crowned with two of the most prestigious LA music awards for Best Single and Best Jam Band and have truly taken the California music scene by storm. Having amazed audiences locally from the start, they have become a must see among musical acts on the West Coast. After releasing the debut album, Active Ingredient, in 2006, the band’s unique approach to song writing and sound became apparent. ‘Active Ingredient’ stayed on the Homegrown Music top 25 top sellers list for months and garnering them bills with various national touring acts such as Umphrey’s McGee, Tea Leaf Green, Perpetual Groove and ALO in their debut year…things looked positive from the start.
It’s evident that UO’s roots are firmly planted in Rock and Roll, but their sound extends far beyond any one particular genre. With a full sound fusing genres around the glove, you are sure to be impressed by this bands instrumental exploration into the unknown of funk, jazz, and prog rock.
